Summer, 2020

Welcome to the Summer Edition of Carlo Gavazzi’s Newsletter. Our employees would like to wish you a happy and safe Independence Day. In observance of it, we will be closed on Friday July 3rd.

In appreciation for those of you that are serious about your newsletter reading, we’re holding a Trivia Contest for a JBL Charge 2+ Wireless/Splashproof Bluetooth Speaker. You must correctly answer the trivia question at the end of the newsletter to be in the running!

Recently Released New Products

Over the course of the past several months we have released several new exciting products!

You can find a quick recap on new products from the past year here

In April, we launched our new WM15 Three Phase Power Analyzer. This is an exciting new addition to our well-established range of energy meters and power analyzers, which are targeted to assist manufacturers and end users in monitoring and managing escalating energy costs. The WM15 is a Class 1 (kWh) 3-phase power analyzer which can be used for single, two and three phase systems, as well as wild-leg systems. It can measure most relevant instantaneous electrical variables, energy consumption and harmonic distortion. The WM15 is an ideal alternative when traditional analog meters need to be replaced. This provides final users with immediate visual indication of the current values by means of the three bar graphs shown on the matrix LCD display. Installation is easy and error-proof! Commissioning is fast, making the WM15 ideal for panel builders, OEMs and installers. The economical WM15 is designed for use in a variety of markets and applications, including conventional energy, building and industrial automation.
Earlier in April, we launched our new Photoelectric Laser Sensors with Integrated IO-Link Communications. The LD30 Series are laser sensors feature great background suppression based on the Time of Flight (ToF) sensing principle. These series of photoelectric sensors have a sensing range of up to 1,000mm for either dark or white objects. The background suppression has been increased four times compared to previous versions. In addition, the LD30 sensors come in a very compact housing making it ideal for locations with limited space and can be used in an IO-Link network or standard non IO-Link systems. When these sensors are used in an IO-Link network, important data points, like the actual distance to the target can be obtained. This new family consists of four sensor types, in either IP67 plastic (LD30CNB) or IP69K stainless steel AISI316L (LD30ETB) housings. Furthermore, every sensor can be easily configured in more than half a million combinations through the IO-Link communications, which increases flexibility to solve challenging applications.
In March, we launched the HDMS Series, a single-phase motor soft-starter. It is an ideal solution for systems used in areas with weak power grids. Its unique design and control algorithm eliminate the need for a traditional start capacitor, effectively increasing reliability. This same innovative control strategy allows the HDMS to easily start Capacitor Start / Capacitor Run (CSCR) motors, and in the case of Permanent Split Capacitor (PSC) motors, virtually eliminate the starting current. This product offers as much as 70% current reduction when compared to Direct On-Line (DOL) starters, which makes the HDMS the perfect choice for applications such as heat pumps, submersible pumps, or other scroll compressor loads connected to generators or electrical inverters. Innovative features include Near Field Communication (NFC), Modbus communication, and ease of use as the HDMS does not require any user settings or adjustments.
In January, we launched the MC36C Series Compact Safety Magnetic Sensors, designed for safety-related applications, such as the monitoring of swinging, sliding or removable safety guards, which keep personnel safe from dangerous areas. The MC36C Series of magnetically coded REED safety magnetic sensors are the ideal solution to monitor the position of sliding, hinged and removable safety guards, especially in dirty and dusty environments. Thanks to their wide actuation range, the MC36C magnetic sensors are ideally suited for use in applications where great tolerances are required, such as with safety gates or doors which are imprecisely aligned. The MC36C Series are extremely versatile and can work as standalone or in conjunction with a safety module to reach a safety category 4, according to the EN ISO 13849-1 Standard. These are some of the features which make these sensors extremely flexible to meet various application requirements: compact size (36x26x13mm), output configuration (2 NO or 1 NO and 1 NC), availability with 2m cable or M8 quick disconnect (left or right exit).

Distributor Training

Typically, we conduct Distributor Training at our headquarters every Spring and Fall. Unfortunately, due to the COVID-19 pandemic, in the name of safety, we’ve had to adjust our approach.

Please feel free to take our Online Training Modules on SSRs or Monitoring Relays from this link

If you prefer a one-on-one web training, or webinar with your staff – we welcome these requests, simply reach out to your local salesperson.

Summer Newsletter Trivia Contest

Since we’re offering up such an awesome prize to this month’s trivia question, a CARLO GAVAZZI branded JBL Charge 2+ Wireless/Splashproof Bluetooth Speaker, the answer will require a little extra detective work on your part, and possibly two hands.

Which ISO standard did Carlo Gavazzi recently write a technical paper on to maximize energy efficiency???

Email your answer, with “TRIVIA CONTEST” in your subject line to: Sales@CarloGavazzi.com

After gathering all of the correct answers in early August, we will select a grand prize winner who will receive the JBL Charge 3 Wireless/Splashproof Bluetooth Speaker.

Winter Newsletter Winner

In December, Perry Bock of High Tech Systems and Equipment in Cleves, Ohio, emailed in the correct answer to our trivia question and won a JBL Charge 2+ Wireless/Splashproof Bluetooth Speaker. Perry is pictured below on the left, as he was presented the prize by Tom Kriz, Area Sales Manager of Carlo Gavazzi.
