The employees of CARLO GAVAZZI would like to wish you a safe and happy holiday season. We will be closed on December 25th, 26th, and January 1st.

2023 has been an eventful year for CARLO GAVAZZI, with many new products launched in recent months. Our success wouldn’t have been possible without our dedicated employees, sales representatives and distributors, as well as our loyal customers. Many thanks and wait until you see what we’re planning for 2024!

To celebrate the holiday season, and in appreciation for those of you that are serious about your newsletter reading, we’re holding a Trivia Contest for a JBL Charge 2+ Wireless/Splashproof Bluetooth Speaker. You have to correctly answer the trivia question at the end of the newsletter to be in the running!

New Product Launches

Over the course of the past several months, we have released a number of exciting new products!

You can find a quick recap on new products from the past year here.

Smart IO-Link Photoelectric Laser Sensors for Challenging Applications

In November we introduced the new series of LD30..PBR…IO Photoelectric Laser Sensors with IO-Link. This new sensor series offers the most functionality in a single photoelectric sensor on the market. Endless unique configurations, preventative maintenance capabilities, and application functions provide customers with unparalleled flexibility for challenging applications.

Carlo Gavazzi’s exceptional background and foreground sensing principles, combined with a 1mm diameter focused visible red laser allows detection of small objects or holes over long distances (up to 600mm) or close to a background. Combined with the new dual detection sensing principle, the LD30..PBR…IO Photoelectric Laser Sensors with IO-Link can detect clear materials without a reflector. Thanks to easy and complete customization of the sensors, these sensing principles (and more) can be adjusted based on customer needs. This flexibility within a single sensor reduces inventory while increasing accessibility on-hand for a variety of applications.

DC Energy Meter for EV DC Fast Charging

In late September, we announced the latest product for the EV transportation market, the new and innovative DCT1 Series DC Energy Meter, targeted to meet or exceed the emerging and growing DC metering requirements in fast chargers for Electric Vehicles (EV DC Fast Charging). The near future for EV charging applications features fast, ultra-fast, and hyper-fast chargers. There is an increasing need for reliable and accurate metering systems to meet local regulations and assure customers that they are getting what they pay for when they charge their vehicles.

Electric transportation is one of Carlo Gavazzi’s strategic markets. The DCT1 Series, as one of several products developed specifically for this market, is Carlo Gavazzi’s response to the need for a very flexible, simple, compact, and easy-to-integrate solution for energy measurement in DC fast chargers. The DCT1 is designed for global applications and enables a metering system that can be certified according to the requirements of the U.S. Electric Vehicle Service Equipment (EVSE), European and German calibration and cybersecurity laws. For European applications the DCT1 Series can be used for legal conformance in several European countries while waiting for a harmonized and common EU regulation.

Two and Three-Phase Compact Power Supplies

In mid-September, we introduced the new SPDE Power Supply Series, which are very compact 2-phase (bi-phase) and 3-phase DIN-rail mount power supplies designed for electrical panels with limited space. This series offers power ratings from 120 to 480 W with 24 and 48 VDC output, and input voltage range with AC voltage, (2-Ph 180-600 VAC and 3-Ph 320-600 VAC) or with DC voltage (2-Ph 254-848 VDC and 3-Ph 450-850 VDC).

The high quality of the SPDE Series is certified by a series of industry approvals: CE, UKCA, UL61010, EN62368-1. Integrated diagnostics and protection functions such as output short circuit, over current, over voltage, and over temperature provide maximum output protection.

Single Phase AC Energy Meter for Level 1 and 2 EV Charging

In early September we launched our EM511 Series Single Phase Energy Meters, which are simple, intuitive, self-contained, easy-to-install, remotely accessible energy meters suitable for load balancing in EV charging or PV storage applications. They are ideally designed for 1-phase energy metering for Level 1 and 2 EV charging applications.

The EM511 is a bidirectional 1-phase energy meter with a backlit 9-digit display. Its energy measurement is bi-directional, thus enabling the separate measurement of imported and generated energy, even in fiscal applications such as in vehicle-to-grid (V2G) technology. Furthermore, they reduce commissioning time thanks to a quick setup procedure. In addition to energy meters, electrical variables, and total harmonic distortion, the EM511 provides useful information for the maintenance team, such as run-hour meters and total operating time.

New Digital Platform

We recently unveiled our new Digital Platform on our Inductive Proximity Sensors. These products are important components for detection of metallic targets (both ferrous and non-ferrous metals) approaching the sensor, without physical contact with the target.
