Winter, 2021

The employees of CARLO GAVAZZI would like to wish you a safe and happy holiday season. We will be closed on December 24th, 25th, 31st and January 1st.

It would be an understatement to say that 2020 has been challenging, but it goes without saying, that our continued success wouldn’t be possible without our dedicated employees, sales representatives and distributors, as well as our loyal customers. Many thanks for your continued support; we have a lot of exciting things planned for 2021!

To celebrate the holiday season, and in appreciation for those of you that are serious about your newsletter reading, we’re holding a Trivia Contest for a CARLO GAVAZZI branded JBL Flip 5 Portable Waterproof Bluetooth Speaker. You must correctly answer the trivia question at the end of the newsletter to be in the running!

Online Training Modules

In October we added another set of Online Training Modules to our e-library, the new series is comprised of three modules on our Timers.

We understand that people learn via many different means nowadays, some people prefer you come to their worksite and teach them. Some of our distributors prefer to visit our headquarters and receive a formal Distributor Training. It’s also not lost on us that others prefer to learn on their own schedule, at their own pace, on their tablet, PC or phone. For this very reason, CARLO GAVAZZI launched Online Product Training Modules, which can be viewed from our website from this Link

At Carlo Gavazzi, we are firm believers in sharing knowledge while educating and empowering people. So please, jump right in – you never know what you’ll be rewarded with for investing some of your time and learning about our products!

Below you’ll see Shelby Frangione of ACD Advanced Controls and Distribution and Nick Babic of Adcon Engineering. They are two of dozens of people that took and passed our training modules on Solid State Relays and Monitoring Relays. They were then presented with their Certificates of Achievement and a bag of our promotional items …or as we lovingly call it, a Carlo Gavazzi Swag Bag. The more modules you take and pass, the more swag you earn!

Recently Released New Products

Over the course of the past several months we have released several exciting new products!

You can find a quick recap on new products from the past year here.

In October, we launched the RSBS Series, a compact, single-phase soft starter. The RSBS is designed for single-phase compressors and is an ideal solution in single phase voltage networks that are prone to voltage fluctuations. The high inrush current caused by starting compressors in these conditions can cause lights to flicker, fuses to trip, generators to stall, and other disturbances. The RSBS uses a current limiting algorithm to reduce compressor start current by more than 50% when compared to Direct Online (DOL) starters. Its control algorithm automatically detects when the compressor reaches full speed to make sure that the internal bypass relay switches ON when the current is at an optimum level. The RSBS can limit inrush currents up to 45 Amps under balanced conditions with a maximum ramp-up time of 600ms. Its special HP function ensures the compressor receives enough starting torque by allowing a maximum current of 80 Amps even when the pressures are not balanced.
In September, we launched the RM1D Series, a comprehensive family of DC switching solid state relays. The RM1D Series is designed for applications that demand critical response times, rapid cycling, and high reliability. They are ideal for use in transportation, off-grid and renewable energy systems that run off batteries, as well as DC heaters, solenoids, valves, fans, and other equipment. Maximum output ratings include 100A @ 60VDC, 50A @ 200VDC and 10A @ 500VDC. The RM1D Series also has a low power dissipation output MOSFET, creating superior thermal performance which reduces the size or even eliminates the need for a heat sink.
In August, we launched our new Capacitive Proximity Sensors with Integrated IO-Link Communications. Building upon our existing range of sensors, these new sensors are housed in durable AISI316L stainless steel housings or PTFE Teflon housings for high chemical resistance. Based on our 4th generation TRIPLESHIELD™ sensors, the CA18 and the CA30 Series sensors represent the ideal solution for industrial automation equipment in applications where the sensing performance needs to be constantly and accurately monitored and logged.
In July, we launched our new IO-Link Masters, which are IIoT-enabled network blocks for digital industrial transformation. They feature an embedded web interface and OPC UA for full remote access and control of the IO-Link master and connected devices. The YN115 (for DIN mounting) and YL212 (for field mounting) IO-Link Masters fully support the industry’s leading Ethernet protocols, such as EtherNet/IP™, PROFINET IO, and MODBUS TCP. In addition, the integrated OPC UA protocol allows simultaneous access to the data of the attached smart devices from the PLC and via OPC UA clients, with a reliable, continuous, and transparent data flow from the sensors into cloud-based systems.
In July, we also launched our new EM50 Energy Analyzers. This is an exciting new addition to our well-established and growing range of energy meters and power analyzers, which are targeted to assist manufacturers and end users in monitoring and managing escalating energy costs. The EM50 is a Class 0.5 ANSI C12.20 and Measurement Canada approved device, which can be used for single, two and three phase systems. The wide voltage range of the EM50 makes it suitable for use throughout North America. It can measure most relevant instantaneous electrical variables and energy consumption with a high degree of accuracy. The EM50 can be used with standard current transformers, Rogowski coils, 333 mV current sensors, and 80 mA current sensors for Measurement Canada versions. It features both Modbus RTU and BACnet MS/TP communications in each model.
