November 2013 - CARLO GAVAZZI is proud to announce the launch of SBWEB BACnet Gateway, a new addition to their DuplineŽ 2-wire Bus system. This new product enables CARLO GAVAZZI to provide complete solutions in Building Automation systems for simplifying the field level wiring. The SBWEB allows DuplineŽ I/O modules, sensors and energy meters to be used as remote I/O for DDC Controllers in Building Automation systems. The data is automatically converted into BACnet /IP objects easily accessible for the majority of DDCs.

The SBWEB saves up to 80% of wiring and installation costs by eliminating multi-conductor "home run" cables from field devices back to DDC controllers. The SBWEB collects the signals from analog and digital field devices and sends them over long distances via a simple, inexpensive pair of wires. Since the SBWEB also increases the possible distance between field devices and DDC controllers, cost will be reduced by decreasing the number of necessary controllers.

With the DuplineŽ bus-powered sensors and small decentralized I/O-modules installed at the actual sensor/actuator location, the field level wiring is greatly reduced. The operating range and I/O capacity of the DDC is increased, which means that a given installation can be realized with a reduced number of DDCs. The de-central I/O concept also provides a high flexibility for system enhancements and last minute changes.

Above you’ll see how the new line of bus-powered CO2, temperature and humidity sensors can provide significant wiring advantages in HVAC control systems, especially in those cases where the sensors are widely distributed into several rooms of the building. The DuplineŽ 2-wire bus cable is simply multi-dropped from sensor to sensor collecting all the measured values – no power supply is required. If additional sensors are needed later on, it is merely a question of connecting them to the already existing bus cable. The measured values can be shown on the optional backlit LCD display.

SBWEB BACnet Gateway specifications include:

Automatic conversion of SBWEB Data Points from DuplineŽ and Energy Meters to BACnet/IP objects
Up to seven DuplineŽ Bus networks can be managed
Smart DuplineŽ protocol for configuration of modules over the bus
Modbus RS485 port for connection of Energy Meters
Easy-to-use PC-based configuration tool
Compact 2-DIN housing
SBWEB Gateway power supply: 12-28 VDC
Various types of bus powered analog and digital input and output devices
Bus powered PIR, CO2, temperature and humidity sensors also offered
